TAKING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL

Are you a Maven, Salesman, or Connector?

Malcolm Gladwell talks of those three traits in his book, “The Tipping Point”; explaining how social change epidemics occur. If you haven’t read the book, you should; it’s a great read.

Gladwell labels the moment when ideas, messages, and products hit critical mass, go viral, and explode into popular culture as the ‘tipping point’. It’s the moment the crowd gets ‘exposed to the virus’. Seth Godin, who also writes on social behavior, would say this is the moment a movement begins and a tribe is born. Godin has a new book out on just that subject called, “Tribes”; it’s a great read too.

According to Gladwell, there are three rules that conspire to make these phenomena happen. Those are; the law of the few, the stickiness factor, and the power of context. A successful crowdfunding project relies heavily on the the law of the few and the power of context to get the word out, and the stickiness factor to stay top-of-mind.

Our story is simple, and so is our need.

We opened the Brooklyn Warehouse in 2007 as a neighborhood joint. Our friends and family thought we were nuts. Many thought the Northend of Halifax was just too far away from the food scene. Others didn’t understand the idea behind supporting a local source movement and trying to build on local economies; it was all new to them.

Yet, it worked out. It worked out because there was a movement already happening in food culture, and here in the Northend. More and more people were moving into the neighborhood and calling it home; and they were hungry for something different. We just happened to come along at the right time and the right place; word of mouth exploded. It was the mavens, salesmen, and connectors in the neighborhood and our food scene that made it happen.

We’ve been at it for five years now. Pumping out award-winning food from a tiny kitchen with antiquated equipment; equipment that was past it’s prime when the restaurant was established by previous owners. During our first crowdfunding project to increase our seating we promised our staff a new cooking environment would be the next goal; cleaner, safer, and more efficient. That promise extends to our customers. After all, you’re the ones eating the food produced there.

We’re asking for your help to make it happen.
Join the Crowd and spread the word.

Maven, Salesman, or Connector.
Which one are you?
